Abdel is a young and dynamic person. He spent six years in the UK studying and working. On his return to Mauritius, he
immediately joined the company in 2001. Abdel held the reigns of the Underwriting Department between 2001 and Mid-2005.
During his time in the underwriting department he helped devise an extensive underwwriting guideline. New recruits underwent
intesive training whilst others had follow refresher courses. Having put the proper structures in place for the Underwriting
Department to function to the standard of fast growing company he has now moved to the Claims Deparment.
Here again is helping to re-structure the functioning of the deparment from Claims registration to Claims processing
through to disbursement of cheques. Even though we were one of the first insurance companies to be fully computerised over
the years we had not improved our Claims I.T infrastructure because we were concentrating on Underwriting, build and enhance
our corporate image so as to inspire confidence in the market and to capture a bigger market share. Abdel is currently upgrading
the computerisation of the Claims department which will eventually assist us in servicing our customers as well as third party
claims more effeciently.
Abdel has an eye for detail. He ensures that professionalism prevails throughout the company as he believes that the
customer is "King". He is also the person who advises the company on dynamic issues such as Customer Service, I.T
and Marketing strategies.
Abdel brings his extensive European experience in our operations. His strong background in software and systems
and state-of-the-art technology has been instrumental in building GFA's IT infrastructure with its unique flexibility
and features. Abdel, who comes from a Financial Services background, was previously studying and working in London, the largest
insurance market in the world. At GFA, he heads up information technology, sales, underwriting and the operational side of
the business.
