September 2005, MIM/MEF/AHRP Training Commitment Award 2004.
In September 2005 GFA INSURANCE LTD won the MIM/MEF/AHRP Training Commitment Award 2004. The prize was
remitted to our Deputy Managing Director by Hon. Dharambeer Ghokool at Le Labourdonnais Hotel.
This recognition confirms our endeavour to be a learning orgnisation.
Workshop held in the First Quarter of 2005
This was our first ever workshop - an initiative of the Deputy Managing Director. Team Leaders of the three groups set
up to work on our Claims Brochure and Claims Guidelines got the opportunity to present their team's name and work.
The Chairman and Deputy Managing Director distributed gifts to staff; gifts which they had purchased while
actually on a business trip overseas! Male employees got ties. Female employees got a leather purse each. Four different colours
were available.
We were expecting staff to discuss more vividly in the workshop but since this was the first ever of its kind, they
were probably... too shy to speak up. However, we were laying the foundation for future workshops!
Workshop held on Saturday 23 April 2005.
We organised our second workshop on 23 April 2005. The final claims brochures were handed over by the Team leaders to
the Deputy Managing director. Discussions were held with each team individually. The session ended with the listening of a
CD on "How to influence people and be a leader".
Final comments by the Deputy Managing Director:
"If today each one of you has learnt at least one little thing that you could put into practice in your social or working
life this workshop would have served its purpose and would have been a success."
Forthcoming events...
The next workshop will be held in the Third Quarter of 2005. We hope to have finalised our Claims Brochure, Claims Guidelines
and Underwriting Guidelines by then. Prizes will be awarded for two categories: Best Claims Brochure and Best Claims Guidelines.
We expect to launch our Newsletter on that occassion in the presence of honorable and distinguished guests.
Forthcoming projects...
We are currently preparing the first issue of our Newsletter which we hope to launch sometime
during the third quarter of 2005. The Newsletter will contain a dedicated section entitled "Employee of the Quarter". The
most outstanding employee of the quarter will have his or her picture and profile printed in this section.
